"We are not going to stop until the past is exactly the way we want it to be." Shade of George Orwell.
The latest idiocy from the Far Left is: The USSR never really intended to conquer Western Europe, the Cold War was an illusion. Therefore, by this reasoning, NATO was totally unncessary, merely an imperialist ploy.
During the Cold War, the USSR published a magazine called Red Star, the official magazine of the Red Army. Interestingly, there was even an English version that the defense project that I worked at subscribed to. Anybody who even glossed over Red Star would be convinced that the USSR planned the annexation of Western Europe. Each issue had at least one article about how this was going to happen, in some detail. What's a person to think?
OK, lefties, explain this: If the USSR was not planning to take over Western Europe, why did the official Red Army magazine carry article after article, year after year, describing the proposed "liberation" (conquest) of Western Europe? I can't wait to hear them try to weasel out of this one.
