The issues. The Soviets did most to win the war in Europe, i.e. defeat Germany. Not all, but most.
Post WWII Soviet military posture was PRIMARILY defensive. Hungary, Czechoslovakia, etc, were ON HER BORDERS, not half a world away.
The Soviet Union did not have an offensive surface navy to impede shipping. It didn't even have aircraft carriers. It DID have submarines with many characteristics superior to those of the US, but they were strategic or designed to protect against strategic weapons, no sink shipping.
Stalin was a jerk, but according to some authorities, smarter than either Rooseveldt or Churchill, and had a better sense-of-humor.
The Soviet Union recognized that it had economic problems at home, and while Kruschev said "we will bury you", that was for public consumption.
The US flew spy planes over Russia. Russia didn't fly them over the US.
The US had fighter aircraft patrolling the borders of the eastern bloc. The Soviets did NOT have fighter aircraft patrolling US borders.
The US regularly flew aircraft inside the Soviet Union to "light up" radars. The Soviets did not fly aircraft inside the US to test defensive capabilities.
Etc.
Arf (The never tire of the ad hominem stuff, Bow. I know, it's frustrating to 'em. The stuff told to children isn't always the reality.)
