Some stuff to consider, Tom.
First, the military does use starvation and fluid deprivation. That's been reported repeatedly by former prisoners wherever Americans have been holding them.
Second, to compare an individual being tortured, or a healthy person, with a comatose individual under the influence of pain-killing meds is to compare the soul of yer basic liberal with the soul of yer basic conservative.
One is alive and full of the richness of life and the value of individuals, and the other is unfeeling, and all but dead, regarding individuals as economic units with their lives having little value in and of themselves.
