I stand corrected about the flyoff

Apparently the C-5 and 747 prototypes were developed to the level of wind tunnel models that were tested at NASA Langley. The decision to go with the C-5 was made after the wind tunnel tests but before an actual flyoff. Supposably the 747's excellent flying qualities shown by the wind tunnel tests convinced Boeing to proceed with converting it into a commerical passenger transport.
