I thought it was a pretty good film, arguments about whether 1970-1980 computer technology could make AI "conscious" aside.
Imagine Hollywood making a film with an ending like that today. And I thought Collosus was sufficiently frightening with its utterly cold logic towards everything, made even more frightening because it was doing what we asked it to do, keep humanity from nuking itself into oblivion.
This is my view on AI - not that it will try to "take us over", but that it will not even consider us worth its time once it has figured us out; and with the speed of a computer, that shouldn't be too long. Expect it to say bye-bye to Earth and look for greener pastures, or perhaps analogs to itself in the Cosmos.
