What would an advanced intelligence want from us anyway?
New worshippers? Pets for their kids? To find out who got booted off American Idol last week?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I can see little of what we - a Kardashev sub-Type 1 civilization - have to offer a species that would not only be quite alien to us but also many, many times older. Maybe a cosmic anthropological data point.
Or maybe they are waiting for us to evolve to the point where we could understand and appreciate them, in the sense that they are waiting to contact the true future intelligence on this planet - the AI, or Artilect.
