"How to Lie with Maps" by Mark Monmonier
Required reading for all Geographers and Cartographers. By carefully selecting data, and artfully controlling the way it is parsed, interpreted and displayed, you don't have to actually lie. You just let the user think he's figuring out for himself exactly what you want him to believe. Monmonier uses lots of examples from the Nazi propaganda machine and the real estate industry.
"Lies, damned lies, and thematic maps." Or as I prefer to phrase it, "meticulously documented irrelevancies".
