Science attempts to answer the How, it's religion that claims to answer the Why.
Science uses logic, mathematics, reason, and a set of protocols and procedures which are free for everyone to duplicate and verify. In spite of that, Science very often gets it wrong. Religion works with revealed truth, sacred texts, inspiration, and faith. And it is never, ever wrong.
As for all the specific items you brought up, maybe a god created them. Then again, maybe they just happened by themselves, for no reason. And if you answer, "how could any of those things have happened by themselves?", then I answer "how could god have happened by himself?" Using god as an answer to why the Universe is here is no answer at all, it just postpones the answer and substitutes another question in its place. Who is god, what is he like, and what does he want?
Johannes, the question you should be asking yourself is not whether or not there is a god. The question you, and every believer, should be asking, indeed, demanding to know, is if there is a god, why has he left behind absolutely no evidence of his existence?

Science doesn't need to explain anything. That's reliigion's job.
