This is the issue.
So many famous Americans were Boy Scouts, eh? So what? Many august Americans can be found on a list of slaveholders, too. That doesn't make the latter practice the cause of said Americans' greatness.
The Boy Scouts can pray until they turn the color of their uniforms as far as I'm concerned. I don't care about that. I've survived "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance (I don't say the phrase) and I could survive Boy Scout prayers.
But they throw people out of their organization because of religious affiliation, or lack of it. If throwing people out for religious beliefs isn't religious discrimination, I don't know what is.
Of course, if you lie about your religion, you can stay. But isn't telling the truth supposed to be one of the Boy Scout virtues? So you can not be a Scout publicly, because they throw you out, or you can not be a Scout secretly, because you lie through your teeth whenever you attend a meeting. Dandy.
They could just admit that they're a private, religious organization with all the rights and duties that appertain, but noooooo.... They offer "equal opportunity", except when they don't.
Re: moral degenerates: I knew one. He was eventually busted for making pornographic videos, starring him, in the back room of his business. (The pregnant teenager who co-starred in one of them was deemed to be just a bit over the top.) He was the Denmaster, or PackMan, or whatever it's called -- the head Cub Scout of a pack that met in our fire hall. He lost his business, and his family has moved elsewhere. But the BSA never had a clue until a local woman turned him in to the police after he grabbed her breasts and suggested they make a movie. Maybe it was OK because he liked girls.

They kick people out for their religious beliefs.
