"Or will you cede that there might be something that might usefully be done on the Moon? "

To be honest - I cant think of anything. I can see no justifcation for the use of the moon for astronomical or industrial purposes.

"I've already won"

What, exactly?

No one would disagree that more funding should go to NEO discovery, tracking etc.

And no one agrees that the best way to do that discovery and tracking is on the moon - which is the gripe I have with your argument.

You want a return to the Moon - thats fine, but give a sensible reason for it - not the totally, fundamentally flawed argument that is offers ANY benefit for other means to discovery and track impacting hazards - as it simply doesnt.

You want to argue the case for greater funding for NEO tracking - please, do. It's a valid and creditable cause.

You want to argue that the best place to do that is on the moon - please, dont. It's a flawed argument, it's would be a fundamental waste of NEO watching resources.

Do you want a one medium scale scope on the moon....

or dozens upon dozens of large scopes dotted across the earth or several on-orbit observatories dedicated to the job of finding and tracking impact threat objects.

They'd cost about the same.
