Hi Eric
Residuals in the motions of Uranus and Neptune hinted at a Planet X thus leading to Percival Lowell's planet X search and Clive Tombaugh's discovery of Pluto, but more accurate distances and masses for both thanks to Voyager 2 meant that the residuals evaporated.
Thus Percival Lowell's original Planet X disappeared from contention BUT...
As rightly pointed out in the late 1970s and recently revived by planet accretion theorists a lot of mass must've been scattered into orbits out past Pluto. We now know of the Kuiper Belt and the Scattered Disk, and we're on the verge of finding even more "planet Xs" than Lowell suspected - with the caveat that none of them seem gravitationally sufficient for the Pioneer sun-wards directed decceleration anomaly.
And none of them are Sitchin's Nibiru nor are they on steep elliptical orbits bound to intercept Earth.

- If it has an atmosphere, then Yes!
- Planet YES, Xena NO
- They named it XENA?!!!
- Hmmm, I wonder if Xena has a companion.
