How about Tombaugh? Or the name of another astronomer (presumably deceased) who made important contributions to outer Sol system astronomy?
I will not stand for another Spirit and Opportunity type BS name for such an important discovery. Such things should be named after people who made important contributions to the field, not some PC nonsense.
And as far as I am concerned, Pluto is a minor planet, not a major one. It is one of the larger known members of the Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt. Had it been found now and not 75 years ago, you know that is how it would have been classified.
Will we have to ramp up Ceres' designation from minor planet? I don't think so.
