I agree that the Catholic Church deserved criticism for its behavior
...in the child sexual abuse scandals. I would like to add that the adjective "gay" should not be the determining one for generation of outrage. Girls have been abused by clergy too. These cases are considered more "normal" and so don't receive as much attention.
The Catholic Church also deserves criticism for its use of religious authority to bully Catholic public servants on issues dealing directly with their jobs. If your point is that the bishops rather than the parishoners should be the subjects of investigation and possible censure, I apologize for misunderstanding you.
