PR flaks are hardly test pilots
That dry statement was pure PR flak fodder. It's one thing for a studly test pilot to maintain his (or her, in the case of Eileen Collins) cool. That's expected (although, Yeager did do a roll in the X-1 during the glide back to Earth after breaking Mach 1 - his version of a yahoo). When a PR flak does it, it's simply boring.
NASA needs to lighten up (the Simpsons nailed it). About the best humor I can recall from anyone associated with NASA was Pete Conrad's first words when he stepped on the lunar surface (Apollo 12).
It may have been a small step for Neil, but it was a giant leap for me."
It helps to remember that Conrad was the shortest of the Apollo astronauts.
