One small step, etc.
Conrad stated he said that because a friend thought that NASA officials told them what to say when they first stepped on Luna. He did it to prove her otherwise.
Which leads me to ask: Considering how important the first words by a human on Luna are/were, why didn't NASA or someone think of something to say? Neil Armstrong said he gave the words a lot of thought *as he was flying to Luna.*
Maybe it wasn't such a big deal to the engineer test pilot types of the 1960s, but I do have to wonder and ask.
Trivia time: What did the first astronaut to step on Luna in the 1950 film Destination Moon say as his first words there?
