re: Thinking solar

If you are truly thinking of solar energy, the University of Florida school of Engineering has done extensive work in this area and you can get all sorts of material from them.

In new construction you will find solar to be quite competitive in installation to conventional energy. However, you will be advised to have some backup or fail safe system.
