Not sure how that roof will do as a solar array, though. I've wondered how a system would do on a curved roof such as that. During the day, you would always have some of the panels getting full light, but you'd have to have more panels. I'm trying to picture the rectangular panels on that roof. You could do a triangular arrangement, that might look nice.
Or, get a tuff shed. Mount some panels on its roof, mount others on a sun-tracking post, put the inverters and batteries inside. Insulate and ventilate. If you want to run DC to the house, keep the shed close by the house. If you go with the shed, have conduit run under-ground from the shed to the house while it is being built. Think about where the electric meter is going to be...you don't want it on the other side of the house from the inverters. While planning the house, you may want to include a way of easily running wires up to the roof without running them outside the house. A small (1'x1') chase would be nice, or just run some big diameter conduit up a wall.
Ashville's a nice place. The traffic can be hellish. The surrounding area is beautiful.
Make sure you check with the county about flood plains. Those tropical storms can really flood the mountains of North Carolina, you'd hate to move from FL to get flooded in NC !
Also, try to find out what the land was used for before it was subdivided. There used to be a lot of orchards and farms up there, and I know how you feel about fertilizers and pestisides. If there was a farm there, you may want to get a soil test - before closing.
Looks nice.
