Iraq was on the drawing board for a long, long time before 911.
The soldiers over in the Middle East are doing their best (a very high standard) with what they have, but the planning was, not to put too fine a point on it, bad.
Finishing the appropriate job, in Afghanistan, was sacrificed to get to the project in Iraq.
Our ports and borders are neglected.
Domestically, there has been little care spared for thousands of people without access to medical care, and the number living in poverty has gone up.
Our children and grandchildren will be paying off the debt run up by this President their whole lives, and yet we see no recognition of this as a problem because this President's friends and social set are happy, so he doesn't see it.
His political operatives have done their best to frame dissent and disagreement as disloyalty. Our political discourse is bitter under this self-christened "uniter", and the voices that he hears all agree with him or are discounted as traitors and loons.
And now this disgrace, a failure to protect and serve by government at all levels that is truly staggering in its scope. At long last, this President recognizes responsibility for his part of that failure. This, at long last, he can't blame on terrorists. That nickel has been spent.
This President mouths the words of service, but they make no impression on him because he can't deal with what he doesn't understand and he has no patience or attention for learning things outside of his comfort zone. He serves the people he knows, and he doesn't serve the rest.
