Folks like to imagine things are going to heck, because it lifts themselves in the process. Folks like to read about celebrities screw ups so they feel better. Folks like to imagine a conspiracy laden government because it makes them feel more righteous and moral.
One look at the left, as a whole, and you see why they are desperately wanting to create some "righteousness" and "morality" in lives that are, statistically speaking, morally vacuous.
It's as plain as white bread from Wonder.
