re: assumption

Second, we've been over this before, on a number of issues. In any issue where there is controversy, and argument, when one side or the other constantly and enthusiastically leaps on arguments supporting a position, while constantly dismissing any arguments that might cast doubt on this position, at some point you simply have to draw the conclusion that this person is pushing for a particular outcome. So when I say I am very worried about the possibility that there maybe a climatological catastrophe in the making, that you are free to assume that I desire it to be true. Or, not me, but other people showing concern. That's quite a conclusion to jump to!

So in your perfect world where no one desires this disaster, how should all these right-thinking people behave? Do we all join the crowd that throws poo at any scientist who sees something troubling in his data? Can you think of any reasons why that might not be a good idea?

I just can't explain why some people are hard over on the idea of everything going to hell in a handbasket. I can't understand how you can see the data coming out and be unconcerned. I can't understand how you can see the accellerating increase in CO2 and methane and cheerfully assume that it means nothing at all.
