Yeah, the Quakers are such party animals.

You have linked to a Quaker site. I can only assume that you include the Quakers in the list of people who had your contempt long ago, to which you refer in your post back to Bowser, below.

When, in the course of their history, have the Quakers ever suggested that to judge and to condemn the actions of others is the way to stop violence? Quaker ethics rely strongly on personal responsibility, self-reform, and testimony for peace by personal example. Not by making an example of others.

This is inconsistant with pointing the finger at other nations and telling them to stop doing something we are still doing ourselves.

The American Friends Service Committee has a long history of pursuing peace through rendering aid and encouraging conflict resolution in very dangerous environments for almost 100 years. To accuse them of celebrating American service deaths is to completely warp what they do and what they stand for.

Events intended to heighten awareness of the consequences of our actions as a nation are not celebratory for the Quakers. They are meant to emphasize our corporate responsibility for the things that are done by our elected government. We are responsible for all these things, not just the good ones.

Do you understand that there are people who oppose violence with all their hearts, and who are committed to stopping it where they can, at home? This is not just politics.
