Slipsliding

Tom, sounds like you posted that just after returning from a scouting mission in enemy territory. You responded to them, not to what I wrote. I never said Bush lied, only that the Bush Regime was proven wrong about Iraqi WMD. Donald called it a lie, but personally I'm not sure whether it was malfeasance or just appalling incompetence.

You can hope for something to come out of the woods in the next year or so, and Lord knows the media will be all over the trial like white on rice, but I think the Left whiffed another one.

Another strikeout for the Incredible BomToszr! I'm not hoping for something to "come out of the woods", nor is the implication that I'm feeling more than a mild case of schadenfreude anywhere near the mark.

You'll remember a few months back when I was speculating about the shape of politics in the next few years. You laughed at my optimism then, but let me remind you that a large part of it was based on the observation of cycles in politics and power, and the safe bet prediction that Republicans are as human as Democrats. Specifically, parties in power inevitably succumb to hubris, and an accumulation of chickens coming home to roost that eventually can't be ignored. More specifically, in the story arc of Presidencies, lots of people have been talking about the "second term curse" these days, and with good reason.

The last couple of weeks were good weeks for me, Tom, because it seems that my understanding of human nature is correct. Frist and DeLay, the Miers debacle, Scooter's indictment...hubris and the arrogance of power, and the first few early birds in a flock of chickens coming home to roost.

And it's only Year 1 of Term Two. Dubya's ahead of the curve at this point. It's all going to fall apart for you Republicans over the next four years.

Ahhh, Schadenfreude, old friend, I've missed you!
