re: 1917 and 1942?

1917: Nivelle offensive

The French delay in taking action upon a plan conceived in December 1916 are acted upon in April of 1917. The hesitancy causes a massive loss of life to the tune of 187,000 French casualties. Many in the French army refuse to fight after that. On May 27th 30,000 French troops refused to take the field in Missy-aux-Bois.

As a result, on June 5th, within two weeks the US enacts selective service and drafts folks needed to save France from her own incompetence.

1942: Operation Torch

"Will the French fight or do we do ALL the work?" was the question once again. And will they shoot on US forces as we arrive?

In 2006, the French will not fight either. They will talk, they will pose, they will issue statements, then they will run and cower. The end result will be someone else will clean up their mess and the results of their incompetence--yet again.

The question only remains which nation will be dumb enough to shed their citizens' blood only to earn French ingratitutude and insults?
