Space/Science » in reply to re: You seem to be saying that

Here is what I said:

The problem, Johannes, is that what you do is NOT speculation... You make a wild claim, people point out that it is just silly and it is simple to prove it is WRONG, you ignore this and keep harping on it... you misuse scientific concepts and terminology, you think dictionary entries are valid proof of your odd beliefs... You cannot do the numbers and when others do them for you, you dismiss them...

No, you are not speculating, you are preaching pseudoscience and you have repeatedly shown that you will refuse to listen or learn ANYTHING that does not confirm your beliefs.

This board is not the place for that...

To which you responded with a COMPLETE non sequiter:

You seem to be saying that 1.2 megaton explosion 400 kilometers above earth can not expel any air molecules into space and out of the Earth's gravitational field.

WHAT?! WHERE DID I SAY THAT?! Sure, I guess that a 1.2 megaton explosion 400 kilometers above earth could heat some molecules to escape velocity but not a hell of a lot of them since that altitude is ONE HUNDRED KILOMETERS ABOVE THE ORBIT OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE!!! WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING?! A firecracker or a meteor could also heat up some molecules to escape velocity- SO WHAT?!

And if I point out that it can, then you say that I am preaching pseudoscience.

No, I say it is irrelevent and silly... but not pseudoscience

I do not need mathematics to understand that such a nuclear explosion is able to accelerate air molecules to a speed that is greater than seven miles per second. How does your mathematics prove that such a nuclear explosion can not accelerate air molecules?

You really have no grasp of how to make a logical argument, do you? I never made such claims.

Since you did not respond to those posts, I have come to the conclusion that YOU are trying to promote erroneous information as fact, not only on the space science board but also on the other ones.

I didn't respond to them because I didn't want to waste my time...

Look, you have a VERY asinine "theory" that somehow radioactive waste is causing the Earth to lose its atmosphere... the first time you posted this I, and others, posted short, correct, calculations showing that it is not just WRONG, but it is WRONG by tens of orders of magnitude. You ignored this and for several years you have kept posting this nonsense- along with your silly claims about relativity and the hilarious 'expanding Earth' theory...

http://www.habitablezone.com/Flame/messages/301522.html (OVER 2 YEARS AGO)

and now for your "theory" one final exhausting time:

Mass of the atmosphere: ~5*10^18 kg

Mass of the oceans: ~1.4*10^21 kg

energy released in a 1 kt explosion: ~ 4*10^12 joules

heat capacity of water: ~4200 Joules/(kg*degree C)

heat capacity of air:~1000 Joules/(kg*degree C)

energy given to the earth by the sun in 1 second:385,843,200,000,000,000 joules or ~4*10^17 joules- the equivalent to the energy released in 4*10^5 1kt explosions, 400 one megaton explosions _per second_

Now lets make the unrealistic assumption that all energy from radioactives goes entirely to heating up the atmosphere- how much energy would be needed to raise the air temp 1 degree?
Answer: 5*10^21 Joules. ~1.25*10^9 1kt explosions, or 1250 1 gigaton explosions...

Now lets make the slightly more realistic assumption the energy is deposited into the ocean and atmosphere...
to heat the ocean/air combination 1 degree requires ~6*10^24 J- over 1 TRILLION 1kt explosions.

THAT SHOULD HAVE ENDED THIS NONSENSE 2 YEARS AGO! EVEN IF MY CALCULATIONS WERE OFF BY A FACTOR OF A MILLION IT STILL WOULDNT HELP YOU. Your "theory" is NONSENSE and it has been shown to be nonsense by people that did the numbers for you... IT IS PSEUDOSCIENCE! ANY FURTHER DISCUSSION OF IT WILL BE MOVED TO FLAME OR OFF-TOPIC. IF WE HAD A BOARD CALLED "MINDLESS DRIVEL" I WOULD MOVE IT THERE.
