I said: "And the record shows that CO2 increases follow a warming period and does increase throughout these periods. "
RL: "Nice try, the data show that there is a correllation between increased CO2 and increased temperatures."
We agree that there is a correllation. But the record show rising CO2 levels generally following, NOT CO2 leading to warming. Though I'm not arguing that significant increases in CO2 would not cause global warming. I'm apparently not as confident as you are that by doubling current CO2 levels this would cause significant additional global warming. Nor do I think that reducing the current CO2 levels by 1/2 would cause global temperature to decrease by a significant amount.
RL: "We KNOW that increased CO2 causes higher temperatures, ..."
We know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. We know that various greenhouse gases cause the greenhouse affect. But it's not as simple as you seem to be implying.
RL:"we KNOW that the recent dramatic increse in CO2 can be attributed to human activities,..."
A yearly increase of about .5 percentage of a trace gas is not something I consider dramatic.
"we KNOW that the recent upswing in temperature is roughly what you would expect from this increase in CO2,..."
Or so the dramatic storyline goes.
RL: "we KNOW that we can expect things to get worse if we do not take action..."
What actions are you suggesting we take?
For instance, I'm in favor of increasing the number nuclear power plants in the US [and elsewhere]- if we could get to the level that France has in this regard I would be happier.
But I oppose ideas that would result in significantly lower economic growth.

- Yeah, global warming is 'natural'
- 27% percent higher than last year?
- global warming is 'natural' on Mars?
- R.L., do you have any idea why the last ice age ended?
- re: Yeah, global warming is 'natural'
- I'd like to see the graphs
- Global cooling is too
- Ya but you have to look at the big picture.
