This subject is often heavily publicized in spring and summer, when it's naturally hot. It's like Christmas for these people. They use psychology as much as anything to promote their cause. Besides, global warming doesn't affect me. That is, unless billions of taxpayer dollars are to be spent on related things. But otherwise, how important is it compared to ordinary everyday life. They are predicting a couple of degrees increase in global average temperature, but where I live, temperature swings several times more more than that from day-to-night-to-day. From winter to summer, there is a 50+ degree celsius temperature change. Their predictions are meaningless unless they tack on apocalyptic weather patterns. But they have no way of knowing whether or not that will happen. They can't even predict the weather more than 5 days ahead, usually less.
