re: Biggest Chicken Hawk

Ah, I see our friend Tom is up to his age-old tactic, when criticism is leveled against some Republican, the answer is to point fingers at Bill Clinton. The difference here is absolutely obvious. Bill Clinton is not being accused of calling national heroes cowards and unpatriotic. As a matter of fact I don't remember Clinton ever using that tactic against his political opponents. It's really a rather pathetic notion anyway and almost always backfires on the people using it.

Now I personally don't care whether some public official avoided the Vietnam War. Had my number not come up sufficiently high to keep me from being drafted, I probably would've ended up in Canada. The problem comes when the morons later in life start rattling sabers like they have this insight about what fighting wars and patriotism is all about. Bottom line is that it should always be a red flag to us when politicians start questioning each other's right to challenge public policy. Our democracy is based on spirited debate on national issues especially when it involves armed conflict.

In my opinion, Dick Cheney is going to go down in history as an embarassment as more and more of his bullying tactics come to light. It's really a shame that someone with Cheney's intellect and articulate speaking abilities couldn't fight off the dark side. He could've been a real asset to America.
