Your assumption that it must be correct is not surprising. Your idea that all the smart people agree with the president's position and all the dumb ones dispute it is another unsurprising thing for you to imply.
Your idea that we should add up the numbers of people swayed by this argument and the numbers of those unimpressed is one possible approach, I suppose. It doesn't make too much sense, if you pay no attention to the sources that I post on the subject, though.
