There is no conceivable analysis of domestic energy supplies that would make leaving every drop of the ANWR oil in the ground as the best solution.
This isn't about caribou, or the environment. It's about denying the Republicans a political victory, and if we have to rely on Venezuela and the Middle East for oil, so be it.
After all, according to the economic and technological geniuses in Congress, all we have to do is pass a law making all our cars get 80 miles per gallon, and everyone will be fine. Hey, better yet, pass a law requiring all our cars to run on tap water!
