Orion Project

I have seen that particular configuration for years. It is highly efficient, capable of incredible speeds and doable with current technologies. (L Niven and Barnes used it in the novel "Footfall" F/I)

It is also quite hazardous, to both crew and any surrounding areas.

I would wonder about the push-plate though, it would be radioactive.

I'd think they'd want to dump it, preferably in an orbit that would take it somewhere a long ways else for a very long time.

But, who am I? You're the rocket scientist.
