Mohammed is a sacred figure to all Muslims, not just Islamists.

Is it important to insult the religion of people who are not violent in order to get in the face of some people who are? To what end?

Freedom of speech includes the freedom to be vile. Some of these cartoons cross that line. Though I will defend that free speech on principle, I reserve my free speech right to denounce insulting, obnoxious provocateurs.
