"So only Scott and I mentioned prison terms for violating sedition laws? One point of view might be that Scott and I were pointing out the obvious and wasting bandwidth--laws, especially those like sedition and treason, specify penalties including prison time. I don't think either one of us would have thought of a law without substantive penalties. Where's the power to intimidate your political opponents if your sedition law has no teeth?"
May I suggest that you don't understand politics very well. E.g. Miller wanted to go to jail. And Gore would probably think he could shake his dull image if he was imprisoned by Imperial America. Whereas taking away his "entitlement" or some other perk he has "inherited" from the America tax payers- that would cause real fear.
Kerry and/or Gore may belittle their "storm troopers" and complain them being burden, but without them they might begin to get the sinking feeling that they are mere citizens.
At least Kerry still has the crutch of still being a Senator.
"The question of Gore's candidacy in 2008 is one of those great Conservative fantasies that looms large in their minds, but I have to tell you, nobody on the Left--in other words, those people who might even in theory be inclined to vote for the guy--has any interest in seeing Gore stumble through another election. You only hope Gore would be the candidate, and it's insulting our intelligence to suggest that we might be so dumb as to give him another chance."
I think the real Conservative fantasy is Condi in '08, but it is just a fantasy. A more realistic fantasy is VP, then maybe President. But main test of running for President is do you really want the job. Gore **really** wants the job, so he will at least test the waters, say around later part of 06 or 07. But the dems are probably going want a calm cool stateman [You know the image Gore been running away from because he is a stupid moron] so Gore unless he manages to grow a couple brain cells, will probably not get to the starting gates.
