Keep in mind that the Mars Rover Opportunity's heat shield crashed
right next to an actual meteorite out on the plains of Meridiani!
And I recall reading not too long ago about plans to send landers to
some of the Moon's southernmost craters to search for ancient Earth
rocks that may have been blasted there ages ago and even return
them to their planet of origin for examination.
