Meteroites

Hi Andrew

Contrary to first impressions an atmospheric entry doesn't heat up a stony meteorite terribly much - a thin 'fusion crust' forms, but interior to that temperatures remain low. Similarly for rocks leaving an atmosphere after an impact - unless molten from the impact sufficiently large rocks aren't excessively heated.

Your objections have answers and these have been known for a number of years.
