In an aiport...

I was tired, and found a bar that allowed smoking- I had a long wait for my flight... a guy in camoflage sat down next to me- he seemed tired... I overheard him talking about his tour in Iraq to others, and learned he was going home- hopefully- to see his baby delivered... I offered to buy him a drink... he declined... his language would make a sailor blush, but when he talked about his soon to be baby he looked absolutely goofy with happiness (As any good father should).

I told him that I wished him the best of luck... I said something along the lines of "dealing with a teen will make you yearn for Iraq" - he laughed a little, and I realized how stupid my friendly comment was... he gave me a hearty handshake and said 'thanks'- I still dont know why...
