Grin.
I like a number of those suggestions, and may implement a couple.
One thing about my really sensitive data. That is on an entirely separate HDD, which is plugged in only when I need something from those files, it's read-only, passworded, encrypted, scrambled, and just real damned hard to get to without the proper utility and multi character password. It's where I keep most of my writing and some old files not on removable disc somone left in my care.
As for personal data, financial or otherwise?
Ain't nowhere near any system that has any sort of net access.
The sick drive has now been completely wiped by an overwriting program, 30 passes. While I'd really like to upgrade, not right now. I'm trying to save enough nickles for an entirely new system, which I intend to build from scratch. (Yeay, yeah, yeah, I know, that's going to cost me more than buying a package, but at least I won't be at the mercy of branded software and a modified O/S. Besides, I like doing it.)
I shunted everything to the second drive for the time being. I'll need a couple of days with no interruptions to rebuild the OS and related programs just the way I want them.
Then I intend to have a short discussion with a certain party.
