Of course. And one of the things I DO here is put questionable items up for people to look at. A lot of it proves false, but a greater percentage of it ends up coming out at a later date with better evidence.

Look at the WMD issue that GWB claimed. You couldn't even DISCUSS it for a couple of years, yet there were still "rumors" and articles surfacing from unskilled or unofficial sources. And how did that all go?
Those pies charts were probably done by a disgruntled Iraqi with too much time on his hands and they get published as "evidence" by people with a cross to bear.
If it IS happening, it will be YEARS before we find out about it. Take a look at Abu Gahraib, posters here still scoffed at it and found a way to deny or discredit them when the news and photos first broke.

Basically, the only thing I could counter it with is....look at the systematic cleansing of intellectuals throughout history by other regimes. By the time it became known, too much time had elapsed, and even IF it had been found out earlier, there was nobody to stop it.
