About "New Technologies" and unaccepted ideas
As Tom likes to say, some people are lacking in their bullshit indicators. Anything may be possible, but not everything is true. A healthy dose of skepticism goes a long way in filtering out bullshit. I would say if your first impulse is to believe extraordinary claims you are not skeptical enough.
On the other hand there's a quote from Thomas Huxley I really like: "Every great advance in natural knowledge has involved the absolute rejection of authority."
