Real spacecraft are key to interplanetary exploration.
Flimsy single use capsules are not going to open up the solar system to us. We need large robust craft that have service lives measured in years or decades. To accomplish this, a large orbiting station should be put into a low inclination orbit where it can serve as a shipyard/space dock for such vessels. None of this will come about until we have a SHLLV which can loft 150-200+ tons to LEO.
