You know damn well what the "historians" will write it up as. If Iraq is a thriving democracy in fifteen years, the conclusion, as with Reagan and the Cold War, will be that it was "naturally developing that way anyway," and that military intervention just made things worse.

If they don't think they can get away with that, it will be "our guys would have done it cleaner and faster."
