I've read countless books of fiction based on...

...various religions and mythologies. Off the top of my head there were Norse, Greek, ancient Egyptian, Hindu, Celtic, hmmm. Bread and Salt had a mix of Shamanistic, Chinese, and Arab. American Gods got its characters from all over the place. I recall a an-American-in-Valhalla kind of thing where the protagonist had his worker dwarves turning out U235 in preparation for Ragnarrok (sp?).

I think it's ok for there to be Christian-based fantasy.
