I made it all the way through "Battlefield Earth". How bad could "Left Behind" be?

Depends. Are you going to read all 11 volumes to get the complete story? They run to about 450 pages each.

There's a new series by the same authors starting up. Subtitle: Before They Were Left Behind. *sigh*

And people get upset about The DaVinci Code...
