From Tom's link:
"That amendment, requiring the Coast Guard to stipulate that no offshore wind projects affect navigation, was pulled back, but soon replaced by much more controversial language, this time offered by another Alaskan, Senator Ted Stevens.
Again inserted quietly, without conference discussion, it stated that a sitting Massachusetts governor should have final veto power over a wind farm in Nantucket Sound's federal waters. And Governor Mitt Romney has made his position clear: He is a staunch opponent of the project."
Of course isn't like the stalinist loving communists to lay this at Rumsfeld door. This could leave mark on Governor Mitt Romney- this kind of courting of stinking rich smarmy Dems, could have some play with either the Dems and possibly with vengence the Reps.
Btw I just listened to Hugh Hewitt's sixth anniversary show: http://www.radioblogger.com/ It was very enjoyable and recommend it.
Hugh for long time has favored Romney as far as 08 presidential race, but as I see it- the Dems always had problems with guys from this region and I think Reps will have same problem, esp with this kind shit above become more known.
Here's interesting article on coming race:
" The coming Republican brawl reflects the fact that President Bush will leave office with no obvious heir, and Bushism as a political philosophy has yet to establish itself in the way that Reaganism did.
Moreover, the four top candidates in most polls for the GOP's 2008 presidential nomination -- Sen. John McCain, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- all promise very different styles of leadership.
...
But beneath this year's slogans, Republicans are decidedly mixed in their view of the Bush years, and each of their leading presidential candidates proposes important breaks with the Bush approach.
Paradoxically it is McCain, Bush's leading antagonist in the presidential nominating contest of 2000, who may at the moment be the closest thing to a Bush legacy candidate."
