Understandable, and basic, misunderstanding.

Americans have been subjected to censorship regarding Israel and Palestine ever since the creation of Israel.

A study of the history of the area, reading the writings of Begin, Dayan, Mier, etc., bears out what many Jews in the US will tell you -

That the Old Testament gives all of Palestine to Israel, and justifies the ethnic cleansing Israel is doing. I talk with folks at the local Jewish Community Center, to which I belong. They will admit it's sad, and add that according to God the Palestinians must go, one way or the other. And the Palestinians seem to be choosing the other.

Prior to the year 2000 BCE the Israelis were killing 24 Palestinians to every Israeli killed.

The Israelis use modern weapons, including nuclear weapons, much of it American made, most American financed, against a people with no army, no navy, no air force, no artillery, no defenses. The Palestinians can't stop the Israelis from even robbing their banks.

A cursory read of the history will show that ethnic cleansing is the Israeli goal. And the Rest Of the World knows that.

And it's not what Americans have been led since birth to believe. The belief that "Israel is going to be driven into the sea" still survives.

The Palestinians are very much like the Native Americans were, and being treated in the same manner. People wonder why they fight back with what little they have - frustration coupled with fear, same reason the Native Americans fought back.

And, sadly, in those wars, women and children on both sides were slaughtered, too.

One can be against ethnic cleansing and oppose Israeli foreign policy without being anti-Semitic. It takes a certain level of maturity to be able to understand that.
