Period.
Twenty years later, you might have time to file your nails or read a book. I was a single mom for 15 0f those 20 years and I had very little time for myself. I don't regret it. What I do regret is the break up of my marriage and having to do it all by myself with very little help.
The men I met in between didn't want the responsibility of raising my two kids, but they didn't mind the home cooked meals and were basically dogs. (Can we start another thread?)
Makes one move to the mountains away from everyone looking for some peace and quiet.........some down time.....and a whole new life before I end up babysitting grandchildren!
I have girlfriends who are RAISING their grandkids.......ugh.
In this day and age, the kids have more to deal with, so your stress level goes up. Our society is crumbling. You also end up spending money that could ensure a comfortable retirement on soccer clothes, Nike shoes and trips to Disneyworld, etc....
The days of June Cleaver are long past.
