I'm not saying other places don't have resources. I'm saying they are resource poor in total compared to Mars. For any one resource which you can site an advantage over Mars there will be many more for which Mars has the advantage over any other easily obtainable goal.

However in your example why would you claim the Moon would be better than Mars when Mars is closer to the asteroid belt?
