Bow says there are those that agree with you, but Tom isn't one of them......

When you say, <"..........they (liberal Democrats) need these things to justify their selfishness. Wanting the US soldiers out of Iraq because they are getting killed is logical to them."> This is a direct insult to Tom, who gets his ideology sent directly by the Ayn Rand Institute as they explain the Objectivism epistime and the "Virtues of Sefishness." Note the operative mantra; War is Peace, Selfishness is Good, (your version of) Freedom is Slavery, Poverty is God's punishment to the poor for voting Democratic.

Then you go on to say, <"They can't fathom sacrificing their selfish little lives for a cause .."> You come close on this one, they (Democrats) can't fathom the chickenhawk willingness to sacrifice our children's life for a fraudulent cause like the WMD in Iraq.

But the cruelist blow came from your insightful recall of the wisdom of Chu Tsai in using effective means to tame the violence of the Khan. Tom derogitorily suggested your insight was from the Twilight Zone. And this coming from someone who fails to distinguish between terrorism and insurgency. Tom has been told these are two distinct phenomena and not the interchangeable concepts he and president Bush address. SADI, you were on tract suggesting that the most effective method to combat terrorism involves a strong mental and intellectual component. Simple bombing of the civilian population where terrorist have previously been doesn't accomplish the objective. This is somewhat akin to a woman spanking her child for crying--it might make her feel better and relieve her frustration, but it won't cause the infant to stop crying.

Terrorism is the war tactic of the weak. It is fought for media attention and the terrorist is a winner as long as he survives, he doesn't have to defeat his enemy, just not be killed by him. This can't be fought by conventional military means. This would be the Polish army fighting tanks with mounted horsemen. Terrorism should be fought by propaganda, economic pressure, political pressure, the use of sanctions and incentives, diplomatic agreements, moral and ethical consistency and not by invasion of soverign states and a cowboy chickenhawk "bring it on" mentality that measures success by tonnage of bombs dropped.

SADI, if you are going to the twilight zone in an attempt to bring clarity to the nature of terrorism and insurgency, I would suggest this a better place to go than either the Republican party or George W. Bush.
