Flatlanders and spheres, again.
They don't have the capacity to see anything but black and white. not even gray. It's not a willful thing, but if that's all you can see you have to cast the world in those terms.
Their world-view is on a switch. Either on or off. You're either for us or against us.
Most folks mature out of that. Some, obviously, don't.
And they would pass lie detectors.
No sense trying to talk them out of it. There isn't the capacity to understand, and yet, because of their limitations, they can't even see that.
