Well, maybe not an entirely impossible job, but...
They blew all real chance for continuity in what we'd call "naval architecture" when ST:Enterprise came out. The NX-01 Enterprise, inside and out, looked more like a descendant of the later ship designs (from Voyager and DS9) than it did the precursor to the Kirk-era ships. That's 4 to 5 centuries' worth of anachronism in an otherwise fairly consistent internal timeline.
I'll be curious to see stills from this "special edition" to see how well they handle the re-detailing of ships (and not just the Starfleet craft, according to the article at StarTrek.com ... but it won't change the (mostly) crappy scripts and acting, which means I won't be champing at the bit to watch the remastered episodes.
