re: The devil in the deconstructed details

Hmm, it is kind of morbidly intriguing that bisexuals have been added to the Right's pantheon of evil (you didn't mention the polarity of the politician running the ad, but I think I'm on safe ground assuming that a Democrat wouldn't try sexual scapegoating/fearmongering [though a part of me's waiting for the other shoe to drop; I've been set up before]).

"Bisexual predator" sounds like another word for "omnivore", doesn't it? Woody Allen famously observed that being bisexual doubled his chances of getting a date, which suggests a rational basis for bisexuality as a hedonistic strategy. But I digress...

You may be right about the calculation the ad embodies about where to apply the chisel to try and cleave another social fault line. I'm guessing, but the calculation might be that Genuine Homosexuals™ won't feel much sympathy for bisexuals due to their, what, lack of commitment? Gluttony in trying to have it both ways? It's as if they're setting up bisexuals as the flexible villain with something for everybody to hate. I'm not sure, but I agree that there's some deliberate strategy of divisiveness embodied by that ad. (Is that a sucker bet, or what? What are the odds that the Right will choose the low road?)
